Skygofree - the most powerful espionage tool!

Kaspersky, Russian IT security firm describes Skygofree as ‘a Trojan with overflowing functions.’

This dangerous malware has been around since 2014 and now, after three years of constant enhancement, it’s grown from a simple piece of malware into a ‘cinematic, full-fledged, multifunctional spyware.’

And this girl has a few tricks she has up her sleeve.

The Skygofree malware can track your location, access your camera and record your conversations.

How does Skygofree operate?

Skygofree gains permission to access your device behind another, seemingly innocent permission request.  Once the user grants permission, the malware begins to plunder; collecting messages, searching through the devices history and commandeering the front camera to take secret photos of the owner. This Trojan raider can also access your traffic history and find out what sites you’ve visited, your login information, passwords and the card numbers you’ve used after you have connected to an infected WiFi network.

Whatsmore, Skygofree can monitor popular apps such as Facebook Messenger, Skype, Viber and WhatsApp.  And this ability to track these widely used apps is particularly worrying when companies like WhatsApp claim to be using end-to-end encryption.

How to do avoid the Skygofree Trojan?

Only a few infections have been reported and all of those have been in Italy.  But that doesn’t mean you’ve safe, hackers can change their target audience at any point.

The most important thing to know is that you should always download apps from official app stores, Google Play, Apple Store etc.  Another tip is to completely avoid public WiFi connection.  If this WiFi connection is controlled by a hacker well… you are in trouble!  For a little more security, disable the installation of apps from third party sources on your photo’s settings too.

If you take your data security seriously, download get2Clouds® from NOS Microsystems.  It delivers the most complex encryption and data protection offering a triple line of defense.  End to end encryption, sent via an E2E encrypted socket layer, that can be protected with a personalised password. It’s impossible to access the data by anyone, not even the developer can intercept it. Encrypt, share and chat is the most secure app.
